TANSTAAFL! Heinlein, Moon is a Harsh Mistress A timely message for today and the future.
(There ain’t no such thing as a free lunch.) Can be applied to almost everything: Climate Change, Buying Votes from the public, COVID, Clean Air/Water, Economics, etc.
Old Man’s War by John Scalzi.
So many excellent series. Very hard to choose. I could have listed at least 20 more series I would like to see but I have to go to work.
You should remove the Foundation series – Apple TV is making this as a series.
As much as I would love to see a much better version of Zenna Henderson’s ”People” stories. One story did come out in 1972 as a ABC movie of the week starring William Shatner and Kim Darby.
There is already a very good TV movie of Zenna Henderson’s “People” stories. Stars some guy named Shatner. 🙂
I never heard of this movie. I would love to see it even if it has Shatner in it! I’d been thinking of adding her stories to the list
The Novels of the Change by S.M. Stirling
Absolutely.
Commonwealth: Chronicles of the Fallen by Peter F Hamilton
“Children of the Sun” is a 1979/80s rock opera by Australian Billy Thorpe; it’s not a book (it spans two albums) so maybe I’m bending the rules by voting for it. But somebody needs to make a movie out of it. The soundtrack album is already there :- )
I can’t believe only 4 votes for the Repairman Jack series by F. Paul Wilson. I’ve been hooked on this series for over 30 years!
How about Jeff Wheeler’ S “Harbinger” series? It’s great as are all of his works
Jessie Mihalik – Consortium or Rogue Queen series
TA White – Firebird Chronicles
Craig Alanson – Expeditionary Force
Saffron Bryant – Starship Renegades
Julia Huni – Triana Moore, Space JanitorEric Thomas – Siobhan Dunmoore and Decker’s War
Kristine Kathryn Rusch – Diving
Joseph Lallo – Big Sigma series
There are so many great series that I would love to see shows made from, yet I hope will never have shows made from them because Hollywood will ruin them.
Into The Black by Evan Currie would make a great movie.
Absolutely, this would make a great Movie or TV series
I really believe that the” Wheel of Time” by Robert Jordan would be a fantastic film series. It features so many diverse contacts, conflicts, warriors, magic, battles etc! etc!.A series that had me hooked from the start. And it was a 14 book series.Check it out if you have not read it.Mike
Agree Wheel of Time but believe that Feists series edges the fantasy aspect. Really torn for choice with the whole list except Thomas Covenant with his consistent paralysis of conscience. The only books I wish I’d never read!
Much as I’d love to see Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar series on screen I haven’t voted for it as it isn’t Science Fiction.
The Survivors series By Nathan Hystan, Kicking off with The Event as a film. Such good characters, good tension, following books have great chance for tech and World building alongside the excellent story telling.
I agree, I would love to see the survivors as a series.
I would love to see The Event made into a movie and 2nd through last books made into a television series or combined movie sequels providing Nathan Hystad is involved in its writing and production. His imaginative writing blends current & future technology with alien characters in stories so believable that you can’t help feeling as though you are actually there with them. My vote is cast.
Ken Lozito Ascension series would make a fantastic film series, exciting, humourous, great characters, loads of world building build screen opportunity and fantastic story.
Keith Laumer’s Retief or Bolo series would make for good universes to play around in.
