Your list stinks!!
Calm down Karen.
I was a little surprised to see that the “Honorverse”, i.e. the universe of Lady Honor Harrington by David Weber did not appear in the top 10. I’l bet it was close, though.
It definitely deserves to be in the top five, if not number one.
I agree 💯!
I agree, Honorverse should be #1
Evan Currie’s Odyssey One series is one of the best I’ve read in a long time. I burned through all 7 in a couple of months. Give them a shot, you won’t regret it.
Evan Currie’s Odyssey series was amazing.. cant undestand how its not on this list, or even the Black Fleet Series by Joshua Dalzelle. Top 5 for both of these!!
Please change the list 🙂
I agree, Honor Harrington deserves a spot!
I’d list the various Dorsai Books (Series: Childe Cycle, by Gordon R Dickson). I particularly like Tactics of Mistake and reread it every few years.
In a strangely similar vein I like The Mercenary by Jerry Pournelle.
I agree and let me add David Drake’s “Hammer’S Slammers”.
missing authors; Dickson, david weber, john ringo. Missing series; Honor Harrington, Retief’s war. Bolo Series. List goes on and on. Many older writers and their works seem to have fallen by the wayside. What a terrible shame and loss.
David Weber, Gordian Dickerson both missing. Heavy sigh…
Doc E E Smith’s Lensman series should have been on the list alongside Honor Harrington series, the Dorsai series too. I agree with Jack Campbell series, well more than one actually as I enjoyed the side series of the Syndic worlds freeing themselves from their former masters. Thought that was particularly interesting.
Then there’s Tanya Huff and her military sci-fi series with aliens, exciting but also freaked me out a bit.
Monkeys kick ass. Trust the awesomeness.
Has anyone read We all died at Breakaway station Richard C Meredith 1969..I am an old guy but i still remember reading it as a kid and just re read it…100% military science fiction and great..check it out
I tried to buy All died at Breakaway Station. Cheapest was $85 at Amazon. Not carried by my library.
I vouch for Alanson’s ExForce, Campbell’s Lost Fleet, Talor’s Bobiverse, Dune and SST. All of that is worth reading or listening to.
Ender’s Game is the only thing by Card worth reading.
Scalzi’s stuff is meh, so if Fox’s Ember War. I couldn’t get into Galaxy’s Edge.
You missed the Horus Heresy Series – easily the one of the greatest military sci-fi series of all time
What about the Vorkosigan Series by Bujold? It’s my number one military Sci Fi Series. It’s really fun to read. Bujold has a great writing style.
No Halo ? Literally the biggest, deepest, and most spectacular military sci-fi franchise that ever existed ? With over 30 novels and a complex story, round up by comics, movies, series and games ?
Lol
I’m so excited to read this one. It’s wonderful!!
One that never seems to get any love, and I have no idea why. is William C Deitz’s Legion of the Damned series. Taking the French Foreign Legion to space was a wonderful concept and well done here.
I love this list and have read almost all of them. Missing from my list of top 10 is Battlefield Earth.
I would have liked to see David Weber’s Honor Harrington there, and Harry Turtledove’s World War series.
STEN!!!
Thanks for the list, I’ve included it into my meta-analysis of Military Sci-Fi
